What makes a blog post or a video go viral on the net?
If you zoom into the viral marketing psychology like zooming in detail into an image, you’ll see a link between every person who shares something with another – which when put together among 100000s of people is called as Viral Marketing.
We share information with our friends, family, colleagues, even strangers sometimes through the following mediums:
Email, WhatsApp, SMS, word of mouth, facebook, twitter, other social networks – if we dig deep to find why we do what we do, it’s all for this one single reason: “We all want to look good“.
We all want to look smart. We all want to look resourceful, intelligent, brainy and information bank. It’s the “want”, the “desire” to look ‘good’ that makes a content viral.
That brings us to the most obvious question now – how do we make our readers look good?
Take your life for example, and think of all the go-to persons you have come across in your life. Could be in your school, could be in your office, or even in your friend’s circle or your friend’s office. They had people flocking to them for that ‘something’ in which they were good at. That something which nobody else can do well. It eases people by relying on them.
By taking this wisdom, here are 7 insightful secrets to help you give Real Value to your readers:
Share useful, informative and reusable content:
This is the easiest of all. In fact, a lot of bloggers (mostly newbies) are concentrating on this area and are stagnant on this point for a long time in their blogging journey. They just scour for information online and provide the old wine in a new bottle. That’s completely ok unless it shouldn’t be a straight lift and modified content which leads to plagiarism.
Demystify any popular paradox in your field:
This is simple yet complex. you must be keenly observing your surroundings, behaviors of people, social mechanisms, and crowd psychology. You never know when you will get your eureka moment. But when you do, it’s time to share it with the world like nobody else can. And that brings us to the next point to…
Explain how to do something like nobody else can:
Copywriting. Take content writing and copy writing for example. There are so many self-claimed experts out there in the internet sphere. Now take copyblogger.com for example. Look at the way they offer guides for free with so much of wealth of information on copywriting – their articles speak for themselves that they are experts – needless to proclaim it in direct words.
Save time and money for your readers by explaining some not so obvious trick or tip:
I follow Pat Flynn. In one of his newsletters, he shared a great tip that was only exclusive for his newsletter subscribers. I certainly don’t want to share it here and break Pat’s strategy but take my word – his one tip that was shared in the newsletter relating to books in shopping sites amazed me and I have, ever since, always taken advantage of that.

Offer your knowledge on something to others for free:
This is a bit tough, especially if you are just starting out and are in need of making some money to keep going. otherwise, this is a great tactic to provide value addition – which will make people rush to meet you like the children in search of the Santa Claus after getting their Christmas gifts.
Don’t give the fish. teach them how to fish:
Not literally, though. If you have written a book or an ebook, which is common these days, it’s not yet common for everyone to be aware of how to write and self-publish one, forget about making some decent income out of it by merchandising it in shopping sites like Amazon. Pat Flynn helps me with another example here. Pat not only wrote some great eBooks, he also wrote an ebook called ‘Ebooks the smart way’, which succinctly jots down the processes involved in writing and publishing an ebook. This way, Pat just taught us how to fish.
Hang out – listen – speak:
This one is my favorite. There are some pretty good forums and online communities where some meaningful discussions happen and thoughtful questions are asked. This place is a thriving pond where a lot of early birds catch too many worms enough to make them fat with knowledge. When you observe the kinds of questions being asked there, see who are all regular in interacting in the forums, you get to listen to their questions – some of which you might know the answer to – and most probably some which can teach you a hell lot of stuff. This not only helps you to learn new things, but also you now have an idea for a new post or book. You can go ahead and help others too with what you learn.
With these tactics, Viral Marketing can easily happen to you – especially if you add a great title to your post – then there is nothing that can stop you from getting your post go viral. Though, the above wisdom insights can help you get there, it might take a little while to organically grow.
Hard work always pays. Keep at it!
